League of Extraordinary Jugglers

March 30th, 2009 | Posted by JH

There’s a new game in town and it goes by the name of the Open Juggling League. Jugglers who’re looking for that little extra to move them into practice should give this a shot.

Over the span of two months, some tricks would be released and participants would have to get themselves on tape performing the exact same thing, upload it, then drop gamemaster, Danny Marden an email. Points are awarded and updated on an online leaderboard for some serious street cred. Think of it like a juggling game of H.O.R.S.E.

Sounds right up your alley? Head onto the newly launched website for more information. There’s a 3-ball league and a 5-ball one.

Head2Head – The 1st Edition

March 21st, 2009 | Posted by JH

StreetJuggling’s pleased to announce a collaborative effort on a juggling competition first announced on JugglingDB and hosted by Danny Marden. Here are the rules as quoted.

—————

The premise is this:

(i) It will be a knock-out tournament (therefore I am looking for 16
competitors ideally but the more the merrier [1]
(ii) In the 1st round, each competitor will be drawn at random to go
head-to-head with another.
(iii) Each competitor records 6 of their hardest tricks onto video [2] and
sends them to me where I then forward the 6 tricks to their opponent.
(iv) Each competitor then has 1 week (I think this is a good amount of
time) to get their opponent’s tricks onto camera (at least a qualify
unless the original trick was a flash) [3]
(v) Each successful trick nailed will be worth +1 point to their score
while an unsuccessful trick will be worth -1 point.
(vi) The competitor with the higher score will then progress to the next
round of the tournament. [4]

Each week I will release a montage video of the rounds as they play out.
If you have a video camera and you’re interested in entering, pls email me
on “dmarden117 [at] hotmail [dot] com” or post your intention here :)

~ Danny Marden

[1] In the event of an uneven amount of competitors entering, the first
player(s) to have volunteered will get a bye to the next round.
[2] Video quality must be clearly visible – no bad resolution/lighting
[2] Failure to submit a video leads to instant disqualification.
[3] In the event of a draw, a replay of 3 tricks will be played out with
the time limit of 3 days.

————

The competitors have been found and the line-up will be announced shortly. Watch out for that coming VERY SHORTLY.
